Gemera (2020 - ….)

The Gemera is Koenigsegg® first four-seat grand tourer, limited to 300 plug-in hybrids. Unveiled on 3rd ofMarch 2020 alongside of the Jesko Absolut presentations at an online broadcast in exchange for the cancelled Geneva Motor Show due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Gemera is the first to be powered by a compact engine weighing only 70 kg (150 lb). The engineis so small because it is a camless piston engine, the first such engine announced for a production car. Called the Koenigsegg® Tiny FriendlyGiant (TFG), it displaces 1988.25cc and has two turbos and three cylinders driving the front wheels and charging the batteries. It is rated at 590 hp (440 kW) at 7500 rpm, with a redline at 8500 rpm, and 600 Nm (443 lbft) of torque from 2000rpm to 7000 rpm.

There are also three electric motors, one for each rear wheel with 500bhp and 1000 Nm each and one on the crankshaft with 400 bhp and 500 Nm to power the front wheels; these combine to give 1,100 horsepower (820 kW) of electric power; together with the engine this gives a combined peak output of1,268 kW (1,700 hp; 1,724 PS) and 3,500 Nm (2,581 lbft) of torque (maximum torque 11,000 Nm (8,113 lbft) at 4000 rpm). These outputs are produced when the engine runs on E85 fuel, but it can run on any major fuel from E100 to standard gasoline.

The engine also features cylinder deactivation and claims to be 20 percent more fuel efficient than a typical four-cylinder engine of the same displacement.

The range on the 54 MJ (15 kWh) battery pack is claimed to be 50 km (31 mi) and while in hybrid mode the range extends to 1,000 km (621 mi).

Being the first all-wheel-drive model, the Gemera has all-wheel steering and torque vectoring. In line withother Koenigsegg® models, the chassis has a carbon fibre monocoque with aluminium sub-structures. The car features electronically adjustable ride height and a titanium exhaust system manufactured by Akrapovič®.

The main design feature of the Gemerais the lack of a B-pillar and two large dihedral doors which open forward to allow easier access to the leather upholstered four-seater cabin. Creature comforts include four heated and four cooled cup-holders, driver assistance systems, four touchscreens (two 13-inch central touch screens along with two additional screens for the side and rear-view cameras), infotainment system for the front and rear passengers, front and rear wireless phone chargers, Apple® CarPlay, Wi-Fi connection, a three-zone climate system, electrically adjustable seats and a premium audio system with 11 speakers.

In 2022, Koenigsegg® announced plans to expand its operations with the construction of a new state-of-the-art factory in which the Gemera will be built. The new addition will contain a high-tech production & assembly line, a customer lounge, offices, spaces for events, as well as additional warehousing and pre-production spaces. When complete, the Koenigsegg® factory will total over 30,000 square metres.
